Naturopathic Doctor
Seeking a Naturopathic Doctor to join our team at Sage Integrative Health, in Berkeley, CA. Our ideal candidate has at least 2 years experience in integrative healthcare, is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with a treatment team, and has an interest and experience in psychedelic assisted psychotherapies.
Sage Integrative Health is a women-led integrative health and psychedelic therapy clinic in Berkeley, CA. We offer services in psychiatry, psychotherapy, naturopathic medicine, massage, nutrition, acupuncture, and ketamine-assisted therapy, along with groups and community programs. Our mission is to provide effective, individualized health care that addresses the whole person, including body, mind, spirit, community, and environment. Our team of multidisciplinary practitioners works collaboratively to offer compassionate and holistic care through comprehensive treatment programs and innovative treatment modalities tailored to the individual.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) Degree licensed in California

  • At least 2 years of experience

  • Active DEA registration number preferred

POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking an all-star Naturopathic Doctor to join our integrative health clinic. The Naturopathic Doctor will work as an integrative practitioner in collaboration with staff psychiatrists, therapists, acupuncturist, and bodyworkers to deliver integrated and individualized health care to patients. Clinical duties include performing medical evaluations and consultations with patients, ordering and interpreting lab tests, prescribing supplements and medications when appropriate, and creating individualized treatment plans for each patient, which may include counseling and lifestyle recommendations. There is potential for the ND hired at Sage to train in prescribing ketamine and, with prior training and experience in a counseling modality, to train in and offer ketamine-assisted therapy.

The Naturopathic Doctor must be a strong communicator who can empathize with patients and who displays exceptional attention to detail. Experience working on an integrative team and in the mental health field is desired.

Responsibilities:
  • Practices naturopathic medicine within the scope of the primary care program

  • Screens, examines, and evaluates patients, including history, systems review, and applications of appropriate tests and measures

  • Analyzes medical history, lab reports, examination findings to determine conditions/diagnosis, identify impairments, determine potential improvement and any precautions or contraindications, and designs a plan of care and provide appropriate treatments

  • Develops appropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with patients and implements accordingly

  • Uses physiological, psychological, and mechanical methods of treatment, and may use natural medicines, prescription medications, foods, herbs, lifestyle recommendations, or other natural remedies in treating patients

  • Promotes health by advising and educating patients about diet, therapeutic exercise, mindfulness practices, and other behaviors and methods for prevention of disease based on evidence-based complementary health care recommendations

  • Refers patients to medical specialists for consultation as needed, including to other traditional health care providers

  • Familiar with using electronic health record systems

  • Collaborates with relevant providers and care staff to ensure holistic delivery of care

  • Maintains and nurtures a positive attitude toward patients and treatment programs

  • Maintains HIPAA compliance and protects confidential patient records

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by participating in continuing education programs such as workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies

  • Complies with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and professional requirements

  • Maintains appropriate documentation, including S.O.A.P. notes, detailing the patient's response to treatment


HOURS & COMPENSATION:
We are looking for a part-time ND candidate whose hours will increase over time as their case-load builds. Schedules can be flexible and determined based on practitioner's availability. Compensation commensurate with experience and training. Please note that it may take some time for the practitioner's caseload to build.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position requires occasional sitting, standing, and walking. Frequent use of computer and phone. Lifting is required occasionally, of no more than 20 lbs. at a time. The position requires the ability to see, hear and speak.


ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work is performed in an office environment or virtually through telehealth. Adherence to any specific safety policies regarding COVID-19 is required.
