Plant Magic and BDSM

Plant Magic and BDSM is a workshop about ways to integrate plants into kink-based exchanges as well as herbal aftercare for both physical and emotional issues that can emerge in this context. This will be a sex-worker-positive space and a nonjudgmental environment to discuss herbal first aid for workplace hazards and general self-care. We’ll get into the aftercare details for bruises, abrasions, burns, cuts, puncture wounds, strains, sprains, and some take-home ideas for navigating sexual trauma. Learn about multiple ways to include the beauty of plants as you prepare for and enjoy deviant activities. We’ll craft a healing oil together for you to take home.

Brunem Warshaw is a clinical herbalist and wellness educator who combines both western and energetic approaches to support people in healing themselves with the assistance of plant medicines. Brunem studied with the Elderberry School of Botanical Medicine in 2011 and with the Blue Otter School of Energetic Herbalism in 2015. Brunem's lens as a practitioner and teacher is trauma-informed, disability-affirming, queer, harm reductionist, and grounded in their experience as a white person with Irish and Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry. Their care practice over the years has ranged from medicine-making in the garden, street medicking at political actions with the Rosehip Medic Collective, collaborating to create and staff pop-up clinics in several outdoor settings (both urban and rural), doing hospice and support work at assisted living facilities and in homes, teaching classes in a variety of venues including herb schools, seeing clients one on one in their clinical practice, providing quick consults at retail apothecaries, and working as an herbal pharmacy technician. Brunem's concepts of health and healing are politicized and in relationship with ancestral magic. They are humbled to facilitate people’s connection with the beauty and generosity of the plant world.
