This class is for those who have identified the need to support their nervous system in relaxation in order to heal. Rather than 'overcoming' trauma, we are building skills for allowing health to come to our awareness, to feel okay in our own skin and to notice how trauma interferes with our noticing safe space within our self. We do not to get rid of anything. We can learn to widen our awareness and deepen our capacity to be with whatever comes up. These skills allow us to sense the difference between our self and the trauma patterns that seem to take us over. We use gentle seated, standing and lying down movement to help us to feel our body as a whole. Then we rest and settle, continuing with eyes softly open and/or closed. The instructor will assist with participant comfort and settling by using biodynamic craniosacral touch.
Kristyn Demko Marshman has a private somatic therapy practice in Berkeley. Kristyn’s work aids to gently bring about new experience in the body, building safety needed for making our way out of the past and into the present. She is trained in Rosen Method, Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy and yoga, and is a mother of three.
